Algeria as seen from Gemini 7 spacecraft Algeria, south-southeast of Colomb Bechar area, is photographed by Astronaut Frank Borman and James A. Lovell during the Gemini 7 mission. Sand dunes are 200 to 300 ft. high in the Grand Erg Occidental area. The Oued Saoura river can be seen in the upper left corner. White spot in middle of picture is the Seboha el Malah salt beds. The area had just experienced very heavy rains and the stream and salt flat are inundated.
